PROPOSED TOUR ITINERARY FOR THREE DAY

DAY ONE IN THE MORNING: at 8:00am leave for tour of Angkor Wat.

Angkor Wat is one of seven wonder of the world, built in early 12nd century and dedicated to Hindu gods. Angkor Wat is one of the best in the Angkor Archaeological Park, from Angkor Wat-said to be the world’s single largest, religious monument-to the jungle –entwined   Ta Prohm made famous in Angelina Jolie’s Tomb Raider movie, and some smaller, seldom-visited gems…..

An early start should allow us to see Angkor wat undisturbed by too many visitors; we enter the temple by the quieter eastern causeway.    Angkor Wat is busy at any time of day, but early morning is the quietest time for us to explore and admire this architectural wonder and the world –class- bas-relief. The bas relief that feature the Hindu myths and real history of Suryavarman II are the main feature of the morning’s visit.

IN THE AFTERNOON:

transfer to the archaeological site and continue the temple tours. Just Northwest of Ta Prohm, lie the rarely visit temple of Ta Nei. There is a reasonable chance of exploring this beautiful Angkorian temple without any other people around. Return to Ta Keo Temple Mountain, where a climb to the top is rewarded by an expensive view over the surrounding forest. From here we can go to Ta Prohm where we can take a leisurely stroll thought the temple from the east or north entrance to the west entrance to meet again with our driver (1-2km). Once home to 6oo exquisite dancers, Ta Prohm is a wondrous site, with giant fig kapok trees straight the ancient stonework in a photogenic interplay of man and nature.

DAY TWO

IN THE MORNING at 08:00AM

We travel to the Victory Gate of Angkor Thom. Walk along the 8m-high laterite wall (500m) of the ancient cityto the relatively unvisited and magical East Gate. The crematoria built against the outside of the city wall are best seen from up on the wall and give rise to the popular name “Gate of Death” Switching our attention to temples that pre-date the city, we walk past the monumental Baphoun temple and Phimeanakas, with its beautiful lakes, continuing through the shaded parkland behind the Terrace of the Elephants.  We move to Bayon, Jayavarman’s sate temple at the centre of the city. We start exploring the lower levels which bas-relief carvings and gradually make our way to the inner walls where   unfinished carving were later completed during the reign of King Jayavarman VII.

IN THE AFTERNOON  at 14:00PM

You will  continue  your  temple  visit,  you can cross Preah Khan from the South to East or vice versa. As you walk, be aware by the magnificent stone sculpture of giant garudas, each one grasping the tail of  a naga, its traditional enemy in each hand. Preah Khan built in the 2nd century was one of Jayavarman VII’s largest project dedicate to his father. Preah Khan was much more than a temple with over 1,000 teachers it appears also to have been a Buddhist university as well as a considerable city. Preah Khan is located on the western edge of its own long Baray. the Jayatadaka,  and a terraced landing stage at the end of the temple West-East access to the lake with   a moat surrounding the city. The third enclosure bounded by another laterite  wall is the grandest with four gopuras and located with within the enclosure is the Hall of Dancers decorated with fries of dancing Apsara. The restoration of Preah Khan is currently undertaken by the world Monuments Fund, a US base foundation.

IN THE MORNING:  At 08:00PM leave for tour of Banteay Srei Temple, the most exquisite temple in the Angkor

Banteay Srei-Pretty in Pink. After brekfast at the hotel we set off for our journey to Banteay Srei. Around 37km (45 minutes) from Siem Reap, Banteay Srei , finely carved in pink sandstone and decorated all over with deep and intricate carvings, is a site  to     be hold and a firm favorite for visitors.                                                                                                                                   Unfortunately it is quite difficult to avoid the crowed at the temple but the intricate reliefs of the Hindu God Vishnu make it worthwhile.  this temple in solitary splendor as the day draws to a close. Take a walk along the old causeway and be welcome by the stone and naga balustrades as the temple looms into view.
